That’s a wrap from San Antonio!
Our crew just wrapped our second show of the year from the state of Texas, this time farther South in San Antonio. In partnership with EGR International, we produced a three-day conference for 2,500 members of Vision Source at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center. This was a week-long production between a pre-rig day, two full load-in days, one rehearsal day and three show days with strike to immediately follow.
Our General Session was in the massive Stars at Night ballroom, which had plenty of unique features throughout the room (“star”-like light fixtures across the ceiling, textured wavy walls, etc.). On the rig, we double stacked 4K 22,000 lumen projectors to hit the side front projection screens near the main stage and delay screens midway back in the room. We also affixed our entire lighting grid to the overhead truss, including our stage wash fixtures and plenty of movers for added effect.
The center of the set was highlighted by two separate LED walls that would have different purposes throughout the show. One was reserved primarily for the event logo or sponsor branding, while the other showcased our animatronic host: P.D. the Parrot. A crowd favorite from years past, P.D. would interact with each presenter that came to the stage. This made for some quick banter and plenty of laughs throughout the day.
We also flew our speaker stacks, implementing a complete line array system and more than 20 channels of wireless microphones. The run of show was rounded out by comments and panels from Vision Source leadership, live musical performances, three different keynotes and several sponsor presentations. The crowd was excited to welcome Robert Herjavec from Shark Tank as the keynote speaker on the final show day!
This show took the work and individual effort from each of the 22 crew members we had onsite. It was an amazing result all around, and we are so thankful to be able to work alongside such talented and dedicated technicians!
Thank you to our trusted partners and friends at both EGR International and Vision Source. Viva Vision Source!
