From the ice to the gridiron

If you’ve been checking out our recent photos, you already know… 2021 started off in the sports world for Media Stage! We were excited to be booked to work Florida Panthers Content Day and the College Football National Championship game between Alabama and Ohio State. The jobs and the venues were pretty different, but the main focus for both was all about lighting effects.

For the Panthers, we provided background lighting for the set at BB&T Center as they filmed the players’ gladiator shots for broadcast purposes and in-game production for the upcoming season. We used Mac Aura XBs for color and movement, and also used a hazer and snow machine to add an extra “wow” factor.

There were some video elements, too, as we provided a robo cam, record unit and preview monitors for the shoot. This is our third consecutive year working this event, and always enjoy the partnership with our local Sunrise hockey team. It was a great experience especially being able to shoot the players on the ice for the first time.

At the National Championship game, we partnered with Meir Israel (owner of South Beach Photo Booths) to build a truss structure with LED lighting towers around his 360 interactive photo booth set. The LED strips surrounded the platform on which fans stood with props and confetti as the camera circled them to produce a slow-motion video.

The photo booth was set up at the plaza for the fans’ pregame experience and was a huge hit for Crimson Tide and Buckeye fans alike. When the sun went down, it looked even better!

We are thankful to have a busy show schedule for the rest of the month, so keep following along to see behind the scenes photos and, of course, more blog posts about these virtual and in-person shows!
