KC and the Sunshine Band headlines fundraising gala

That’s a wrap from Royal Ponciana Golf Club in Naples! Once again, we partnered with Make-A-Wish Southern Florida to support AV for their annual Wishmaker’s Party, intended to shine a spotlight on Wish Kids in the local community and continue to raise funds to grant future Wishes for children dealing with difficult illnesses.

We had a full day of set-up and technical rehearsals before the show day the following evening. Even though we have worked this event in the same venue/room for several years, the room was oriented differently this year for a fresh look, so we had to re-map out all our lead positions, cable runs, etc.

The main video display sources were rear projection screens and 86” HD monitors around the perimeter of the room, so attendees could easily see the content no matter where they were seated. There were multiple video rolls throughout the run of show highlighting the featured Wish kids and their touching stories of resilience and hope. Our custom digital lectern was built with a TV monitor as the front surface to serve as one more focal point for branding and the event logo.

We had a manned camera positioned at the back of the room for IMAG shots and a robust lighting package to complement the bright colors and florals from the décor pieces that really added an elegant look and feel for the event.

The grand finale was a private live performance by KC and the Sunshine Band. We worked in conjunction with their crew who came in with their backline and additional lighting needs, including a follow spot and additional movers. We also allowed plenty of time in the weeks leading up to the show for pre-production meetings to make sure all needs were covered between our crew and their touring crew. They performed all their hits and some well-known covers from the 1970s; the attendees all loved the show and the rest of the night was filled with fun and dancing!
