A busy month in Puerto Rico

Greetings from the Caribbean! Our crew was back in Puerto Rico for three different shows recently, with another two coming up at the end of the month. Business continues to boom for us there on the island, especially during this time of year.

The first shows were at the Puerto Rico Convention Center in the capital city of San Juan. For one of our General Session sets, we used laser rear projection as video display. We built three screens accompanied by 22,000- and 14,000- lumen projectors built on scaffolding backstage. Our audio package was thorough on this event to cover the full footprint of the room – we enlisted 32 line array speakers with the appropriate subs and front fills. In addition to this GS design, we also supported AV in several other areas at the Convention Center including breakouts, committee meetings and a Board of Directors meeting.

Another one of the recent shows was at the Hyatt Coco Beach and featured a captivating widescreen LED video wall that measured roughly 15’ x 70’. We managed the signal flow and content to the wall using six processors and an Ascender for switching. It was an audio-heavy show with many different presenters, so our A1 and A2 worked together to program 20 channels of wireless mics. Our scenic team also supported a custom screen surround to make the display even more eye-catching.

To get this show off the ground, we staffed two set days and a full rehearsal day before doors opened to attendees. And… we’re deep in prep mode for two more at the end of the month at Royal Sonesta in San Juan and Hyatt Grand Reserve in Rio Grande. Keep an eye out on social media for some looks behind the scenes!
