Sheriff’s Foundation Shines Light on Mental Wellness

Panel with four speakers and a screen

Media Stage had the honor of providing the A/V support and technical execution for the 4th Annual Broward Mental Health Summit. In partnership with the Sheriff’s Foundation of Broward County, our team live-streamed this show to a virtual audience of more than 1,000 people.

We built a custom set in the Great Hall at Charles F. Dodge City Center in Pembroke Pines that consisted of a clean-looking plain white wall with complementary foliage and furniture.

The benefit of having the white wall as a main set piece was so we could adjust the up-lighting looks throughout the different live panel discussions. Our Lighting Director ensured that the ambience was bright and uplifting at all times, but no two panel looks were the same. An awesome performance by Ritchie Negron, as always!

We also had a small “side set” that was more formal with black drape and both the U.S. and Florida flags, from which the chairs of the event made their opening and closing remarks for the show. Juan Arias, Beth Tache and Tracy Schuldiner did a wonderful job with this, ensuring that all presenting sponsors and event volunteers received the recognition they deserved.

Additional A/V support included a full audio package (using both handheld and lav mics), supplementary gear for web-streaming, four HD cameras and video playback/records.

As previously mentioned, much of the run-of-show consisted of live panel discussions. These were extremely informative and timely, as the event was held on National Suicide Awareness Day. Panelists shared their personal testimonies with the goal of helping people become more comfortable talking about the topic.

As is the case every year, the summit intends to end the stigma around mental health and, most importantly, to save lives. A very sincere ‘thank you’ to all those involved behind the scenes for continuing this effort!
