“Icon”ic lineup on latest Joe D. show!

Screen showing a baseball virtual show

There was no shortage of superstars on Media Stage’s most recent virtual show, produced in conjunction with Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital. The “Joe DiMaggio American Icon Award” boasted a viewing audience of over 5,000 people and, most importantly, successfully raised nearly a half a million dollars for the children’s hospital.

The show recognized the incredible efforts of the caregivers of Memorial Healthcare System over the last year, highlighting all their extra commitment and sacrifices amidst the global pandemic. They were collectively awarded the 8th annual “American Icon” award: a prestigious honor given to those who represent the values Joe DiMaggio himself stood for and those who have made contributions that influenced American society.

The previous award winners we featured on the show were Bob Costas, Emilio and Gloria Estefan and James Patterson.

We used our onsite studio for our two live hosts, JDCH Chief Executive Officer Caitlin Stella and Memorial Healthcare System Chief Development Officer Kevin Janser. Our staging team dressed the set in a similar professional look that we have used for past JDCH events to remain consistent with branding. To stay in line with the event theme, we incorporated red, white and blue into the lighting looks. We utilized our adjacent MSI Command Center to take in the feeds of the virtual presenters so that Caitlin and Kevin could interact with them live.

Award between two presenters

This was the first time the “American Icon Award” was done virtually; in the past, it has been produced as a grand in-person event. Some other former winners of the award include Bill Clinton, Magic Johnson, Pat Riley and Derek Jeter. We are always happy to endorse the efforts of JDCH, and our crew really enjoyed collaborating on this star-studded event.

Of course, it is always a treat to work alongside MHS Special Events Manger Jennifer Barb and MHS Director of Community Development Kimberly Carbo! Job well done to all involved!
