Media Stage goes "Mile High!"

That’s a wrap from Denver, Colorado! For the fifth straight year, we partnered with EGR International & BLACKLAB Media to produce a General Session attended by nearly 3,000 optometry professionals at their annual Exchange.

The General Session was set in Mile High Ballroom at Colorado Convention Center. We had two full load-in days prior to an entire rehearsal day before we kicked off the live show. Our gear was shipped in seven trucks for which we staggered delivery times to keep on schedule while navigating the nuances of the venue’s lower level loading dock.

Once we were in the ballroom, we bolted together multiple sections of trussing from which we flew our HD laser projectors, line array speaker stacks and the most robust lighting complement we’ve ever enlisted on this show. The main display source was a custom center front projection screen, that was hit with an intricately programmed blend. We also flew two delay screens and a teleprompter screen facing the stage.

We brought in custom scenic mountainscapes to flank the stage, which really tied our location into the conference theme of “Ascend.” For each show day, we programmed slightly different lighting looks to hit the mountains to give varying ambience throughout the run of the program. During several performances and skits, our L1 was able to get creative with some ballyhoo movement integrated with our up-lights to vamp up the energy in the room.

Each show day was followed by a full evening of rehearsals to prepare for the following day. This was a jam-packed schedule with several back-to-back long days, but the collaboration and precision from our technicians was top-notch!
